CDC Students Learn About Gardening

Dr. Eddie Smith, MS State Extension Agent, spoke to the Poplarville Culinary Arts Students and Agriculture Concepts Students, Wednesday February 18, 2015.  Dr. Smith brought information about gardening in South Mississippi to the students.  He talked to them about planting vegetables, controlling insects and disease that affect vegetable plants.  He also informed the students about nutrients that may need to be added to the garden soil.  Dr. Smith also supervised the students in taking soil samples from the raised garden beds at the Poplarville Career Development Center to see if the soil is lacking in nutrients and minerals.  Dr. Smith is the County Coordinator for the Master Gardening Program.
