Hornets Advance to Second Round

The Poplarville Hornets played a game Friday night that will forever be remembered as a classic.  The Hornets found themselves down at halftime by a score of 20-7 before rallying back in the second half.  Poplarville came out clicking on its opening possession of the second half.  A resilient Hornet Defense would keep the McComb Tiger offense out of the end zone for the remainder of the game.  Peyton Graham found the end zone with just under three minutes remaining to make the score 20-20.  The extra point that followed was good and the Hornets had the lead 21-20 for the first time in the contest.  Camden Ray ended a McComb drive with an interception to seal the deal.  Austin Bolton had a tough 160 yards on 21 carries and two TDs.  The difference in the game was a missed extra point early in the first quarter.  Nicholas Kirschbaum was 3 for 3 on extra points and also kicked two touchbacks.  The playoff win at McComb was the first road playoff win since a 49-28 win over Petal in 2006.  Congratulations Hornets!!
