Poplarville High School senior, Turan Smith, is the 2017 Class 4A Powerlifting State Champion for the second year in a row! ย He brought home the 2016 title last April for the first time in school history.
The Hornet Powerlifting team sent 2 competitors to Jackson, MS on Friday, April 14th for the MHSAA State Powerlifting Championships.
Turan came in 1st place in the 132 pound weight class. ย Roosevelt Rain finished 4th in the 220 pound weight class with his personal best deadlift of 550 pounds.
